Today’s Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
King James Version (KJV)
Meaning of Today’s Verse
This verse sets whole-hearted trust in God against the habit of relying only on our own reasoning. It does not call us to stop thinking or planning. Scripture elsewhere praises wisdom and careful work. The point is where our final confidence rests. Our understanding is limited, and we often see only part of a situation. To trust the Lord with all the heart is to bring Him our decisions, fears, and plans, and to let His character guide us when the way ahead is unclear. Verse 6 goes on to promise that He will direct our paths.
Put It Into Practice
Think of one decision or worry you have been carrying alone. Bring it to God in prayer today, then take the next faithful step, whether that means asking trusted counsel, reading Scripture, or simply waiting.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I place my trust in You today. Where my own understanding falls short, lead me with Your wisdom. Teach me to bring my plans and my worries to You first, and to walk forward with a humble and steady heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
