Today’s Bible Verse: Matthew 11:28
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
King James Version (KJV)
Meaning of Today’s Verse
Jesus speaks these words as an open invitation to anyone worn down by hard work, guilt, or the weight of life. The rest He offers is not simply a break from activity. It is relief that comes from knowing Him, and in the next verse He invites His hearers to take His yoke and learn from Him, describing Himself as gentle and lowly in heart. The invitation is direct: “Come unto me.” Rest is found by coming to a person, not by finding a better method or working harder.
Put It Into Practice
Set aside a few minutes today to be quiet before the Lord. Tell Him honestly what has been wearing you down, and ask for His rest.
Prayer for Today
Lord Jesus, I come to You tired and burdened. Thank You for Your invitation and Your gentle heart. Give me rest for my soul, and teach me to walk with You rather than carry everything alone. Amen.
