“You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we don’t know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” (John 14:4-5 NIV)
Rhapsody of Realities for Today’s MESSAGE
Before His crucifixion, Jesus had a conversation with His disciples, where He told them He would be going away to Heaven. Understandably, they were saddened by this news, but Jesus comforted them by saying, “I go and prepare a place for you. I will come back and take you to be with Me, that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going” (John 14:3-4 NIV).
Notice His words: always direct and positive. This reflects the Master’s mentality. He said, “You know the way to the place where I am going.” But Thomas, thinking in the flesh, responded, “Lord, we don’t know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus’ answer was profound: “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). What a powerful reply!
Jesus was speaking by the Spirit, and His answer likely left Thomas more confused since Thomas was reasoning in the flesh. Jesus then added, “If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also: and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him” (John 14:7). Remarkable!
Notice that Jesus didn’t say, “Okay, Thomas, from now on I’m going to try to introduce the Father to you.” No! Rather, He said, “You know Him.” This is the mindset He wants you to adopt. He doesn’t want you to argue or declare ignorance. Instead, respond in the Spirit. The Bible says that you have an unction from the Holy One, and you know all things (1 John 2:20). Hallelujah!
The Lord has declared that you know the Father. Therefore, affirm with confidence: “Yes, sir! I know Him.” Blessed be God! When you agree and affirm His Word, suddenly, the knowledge of God will rise up in your spirit, and you will discover the truth. Remember, He is the way, the truth, and the life. What He tells you is truth. If He says you know Him, that’s the truth. He also said it is given to you to know the mysteries of the Kingdom (Matthew 13:11, Luke 8:10), which includes knowing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
I thank You, Father, for You’ve revealed Yourself to me in the Lord Jesus and by Your Spirit. I declare with confidence that I know You, and I walk in that truth always. This knowledge transforms my life, my language, and my interactions. I walk as a victor, and Your grace in my life is multiplied as a result of my knowledge of You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
